Evening out | New Look

This is the first post in my first series, yayee :) This is going to be a fashion series. It is only short series with 3 posts. They will be different outfits for different occasions and each outfit will be all from a certain shop. This one is outfits for evenings out, maybe to a posh restaurant or a formal but dressy occasion. I have chosen New Look for this, purely because it isn't expensive, but the clothes can be lovely.

Outfit #1:

Black peplum dress: £22.99
Orange clutch bag: £9.99
Shoes: £19.99
Total: £51.97

I love this outfit because it is plain and very smart. The clutch adds a pop of colour and brightens it up, and the shoes go with the metal plate on the belt of the dress.

Outfit #2

Red chiffon dress: £19.99
Necklace: £6.99
Shoes: £19.99
Total: £46.97

I love the colours in this outfit. The red dress is smart but it also makes the outfit less boring and the choice of necklace means you can either make it stand out, or the grey/silver just compliments it. I think the shoes are cute so I put them with it!

Those are my 2 outfits for evenings out. Hope that gave you some ideas or the inspiration to create your own one of these. Next post's one is 'date' wear so please comment which shop you would like me to use! Hope you like my first series :)

Update #1

So here's a little update for you because I haven't posted in a while and this felt like an important update to inform you of what's coming next!

Most importantly, or rather, most excitingly is that my dad has recently come back from his visit to America. Your probably thinking that that wasn't very important, but what he brought home is the exciting part! I have never visited America before so for me it was all novelty. He skyped me and showed me around and best of all, (although I don't know how he managed to) he took my extremely long shopping list, (oh dear!) and I am now the owner of some exciting new american products! This means, I will be reviewing some products that are different and useful for any american readers or people who are visiting America! I will space the reviews out a bit and some of them won't be till after Christmas because they are presents. I have also got some other reviews (products available in England) in mind so 'watch out for those'!

Secondly I have got a new (and my first) series coming up, It will be a fashion series so follow if you are interested in that! I won't explain it now, because I want it to be a surprise but I will explain on the first post which I have started working on so should be up soon!

I have't done an advice post in a while so please comment ideas for one.

Also I am thinking of making this blog able to be followed via bloglovin' so when I do please follow it on there :)

That is all for my little update! Please follow my little blog for more fashion, beauty, life and advice :)

P.S. I didn't like my header picture because it had a slightly darker background than the template and I felt it made the blog too busy and just clashed with everything, that is why it has disappeared!

Winter Beauty Essentials

So since a lot of my posts have been autumn/winter themed, I decided to do a beauty post to do with it. It will just be a few things that I specifically use for winter, if it was all beauty essentials the list would be long... And sorry that the photos are stock photos, I had rubbish lighting but I still wanted to do a post so hope you like it!

Lip balms

No-one wants chapped lips and winter is a 'mean' season to your lips so lip balms are a necessity! My favourite for winter are Carmex cherry, EOS tangerine and vaseline. (Vaseline actually only creates a layer over your lips to protect them (e.g it does not moisturise) but that is really what you need in the winter!)

Hand and cuticle cream

Hands are especially dry in the winter so using a hand and nail cream is a good way to avoid this. I use a boots own cuticle cream and a hand cream that i don't know the brand of but its not a 'professional' (meaning lush etc.) hand cream.

Red lipstick

Yes I love lipstick, especially red. It is the only part of make-up that i am even slightly adventurous! Winter is the party season and red is just a great wintery colour anyway! I own the maXfactor one in ruby tuesday, it is quite a bright red though, I want a deeper red! I really rate maXfactor lipsticks, I think they are great. (It is not as bright as it looks in the picture).

Face Moisturiser

As I have said a number of times, winter makes your skin especially dry so a really good moisturiser is a must. I use benefit total moisture but it is oil based so not for everyone!

Lot's and lots of bath bombs

Winter is cold... more reason to spend all evening in a warm bath surrounded by lovely smelling and feeling water with bath bombs or bath melts! I love the space girl bath bomb from lush but golden wonder turns your bath water the most amazing colour (turquoise) and it is only available around christmas/winter!
space girl
golden wonder

Those are some of my essential things for winter! What are yours ??

KT Tunstall

I and a lover of lot's of genres music but there is one artist that i have loved since I was little. My mum would always listen to her and I kind-of picked up a love for her music. I have been lucky enough to see her live a couple of times and I can tell you, everything is so much more 'magical' live. This picture is from when I saw her at a festival and she had a band to accompany her. When I have seen her at concerts she just plays by herself accompanying herself with guitar or piano.

sorry you can't really see her properly because of the lighting!

I love all of her songs so narrowing it down to my absolute favourites was extremely hard but these are the names of some if you wanted to listen some more: Invisible empire, Lost, Black horse and a cherry tree,  still a weirdo.

Please have a listen :)

Lost

Black Horse and a Cherry Tree

I hope that you have discovered a new artist and this has inspired you to create a post about another artist you feel passionate about. Also I would just like to say a big thank you because I have recently reached 800 page views so thank you! And than you to the small amount of people who have followed because if you enjoy reading my blog please follow it because it makes me more motivated to post because i know some people are reading and enjoying!

thank you xx Are there any artists you love ? please comment xx

Healthy Living

I decided to do a post on healthy living because I have realised an increasing amount of my life is becoming 'unhealthy'! I hope that this will give some ideas as to how you can cut down on unhealthiness and feel better for it :)

According to the BBC and studies that have taken place, if a child has a happy childhood they are less likely to suffer from heart disease when they are an adult... SO BE HAPPY GUYS !!! :D

Going outside is always good because the sun provides vitamin D.

Exercising is so so important and there are a lot of benefits from it apart from weight loss. Exercising is good because:

- It reduces the risks of many heart problems.
- It actually boosts mental health as well. It helps manage stress, anxiety and depression.
- Reduces the risk of diabetes and of course, helps you reach/maintain a healthy weight.
- Good for your bones because helps them stay strong and not become thin, weak and easily broken.

For ages 5-18 (click here for other ages) it is important to have around one hour a day of exercise and on 2/3 of these days the exercise should be more vigorous activity. Ways to increase your daily exercise:

- Get off the bus slightly earlier and walk home from there.
- If you live close enough, swap your bus journey to and from work/school, for cycling/walking.
- If you have a trampoline in your garden, just go outside and jump constantly for 5 mins or something of that sort.
- If you love music and dance, put on your favourite song and go ahead and boogie!

Ways to increase your vigorous exercise:
Cycle places like me guys !!

- If you have time go for a little run after/before school.
- Take up a new sport, after school sport club or do something in a routine, like, go swimming and do 10 lengths every saturday.
- If you are not a running person go out cycling.
- Cycle somewhere you would normally drive.

It has been proven that people who are socially active (interact with people a lot, are married, have family etc.) live longer, so i suggest

- Getting yourself a fiancé,
-Dont choose an isolated place to live,
- And go talk to that lovely old lady next door regularly!

Eating healthily is also very important. I could go on forever listing what is bad to eat and what it can increase risks of, but I won't. I will simply suggest some ways to cut down on everything bad.

The main things that are bad in an average diet are: Things containing a lot of fat and sugar such as sweet things, things containing trans-fats: fast food, cakes, margarine etc. Too much alcohol and finally smoking.

Ways to cut down on fatty/sugary foods:

- Swap a packet of crisps or a chocolate bar in you lunch for fruit or oat biscuits etc.
- Don't have fast food so much and buy a salad instead.
- Get rid of all bad food in your house and only buy healthy foods so you can't be tempted to eat a chocolate bar for a snack.

It is also very important for you to eat a variety of everything. Vegetarians must replace the protein they are missing with things like nuts, lentils, milk and cheese (milk is good as well because it contains calcium but not to much cheese because cheese contains fat as well).

Now I know that saying this next bit can't make a difference to you but it can make a difference for your child! Even before we are born, what our mums do while they are pregnant with us can effect the baby. When pregnant you should avoid smoking, drinking heavily, eating very unhealthily and being highly stressed.

I hope you didn't get too bored! Thank you very much for reading . I am sorry for a very science-y post but i wanted to do it so hope this has helped! PLEASE comment if you found this helpful and if you would like me to do more of these!!

Autumn/Winter Wishlist #1

This is my first wishlist post and it is just some things that I think would be lovely in autumn/winter and how I would style them. Most of the items will be incorporated into so many looks and I will not be able to explain them all, I will just give a rough idea of how I would most probably wear them!

RED/BURGANDY DRESS: from Topshop £46 - I really like the way this dress has 2 different prints, a leopard kind of print on the lower half and on the top half, a tiled kind of pattern. I would wear this with some black/skin coloured tights with either the black patent Dr Martens or if I wanted to dress it up a bit and make it more girly with some tan brogues.

GOLD CHAIN NECKLACE: from Topshop £15 - I am not very brave so I don't wear too bold/big necklaces so I absolutely love this small gold chain. I would wear this to add a bit more to a plain top/dress.

BLACK HIGH SHINE DISCO PANTS: from New Look £14.99 - I wear black leggings a lot and i am getting quite bored of them really so I thought shiny disco pants would be a nice alternative. I would wear these with literally every top but especially long geek, nerd etc. tops tied or tucked in, or cropped tops although the weather is quite cold. For shoes I would go with the black patent Dr Martens or some high tops.

BLUE DIP DYE SWEATER: from New Look £14.99 - A lot of the time in winter I just like to dress up warm and not in anything particularly fancy. I love this simple but cute jumper. I would wear this with black trousers (jeans, leggings etc.) and either, again, the black patent Dr Martens or some high tops.

FUR LINED/TRIMED SHORT PARKA: from Topshop £78 - I love this coat and i have tried it on and it is so warm. I think it would go with most things since it is a dark colour and not many people pick out different coats just to go with a couple of outfits and because it is quite expensive it would probably be someone's only coat anyway. I also love the fur hood and gold zips and buttons.

GALAXY PRINT ARE YOU DREAMING TOP: from ASOS £18 - I love galaxy print at the moment and i own a pair of galaxy print leggings (but i would definitely not pair them together!) I would most likely wear this with the black disco pants and, no surprises, the black patent Dr Martens.

BLACK PATENT DR MARTENS: from Dr Martens or a shoe shop £55 (but probably be more expensive in the adults) - As you can probably tell I really love these shoes! I think they can go with everything and if you wanted to just dress down an outfit or make it more 'edgy' then these would be perfect. I have some fake New Look ones that do me fine at the moment but they are not patent or the real thing so :(

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the items I would love to have for autumn/winter! What things are on your wishlist this season?

October Favourites

MAYBELLINE BABY LIPS : HYDRATE

It is so moisturising and really useful for on the go. It smells nice and i really want the others now!

STUDDED BRACELET

I have worn this a lot because it has a plain colour and goes with everything. I think it is a great accessory and just adds a bit more! It is from Accessorize.

THORNTONS PRAULINE MELTS
They melt in your mouth and are so delicious! (notice there are no chocolates left in it?? I ate them all mwahaha!!)

PALMERS COCOA BUTTER MOISTURISER

It smells amazing and sinks in really quickly! It is not expensive and you get a lot out of it. It is also very moisturising!

FLUFFY JUMPERS

As the temperature has become suddenly cooler I have had to change my winter nightwear. I have two fluffy jumpers and they are both from sainsbury's! I love them, they are so soft and warm!

MIRROR MIRROR INKY SUNSET LIQUID EYELINER

This eyeliner is, surprisingly, very good and i have worn it a lot! I got it in a magazine so i wasn't expecting anything amazing but I really liked it.

PARENTAL GUIDANCE

This has been my favourite film this month because it is so funny and cute and crazy! I really enjoyed watching it and it is a PG so it suites everyone, even my dad enjoyed it !!

TOP CHART

There is so much music i have been listening to and loving this month. I literally love the whole top chart at the moment and some songs that are not on it! If i did have to pick some (!!!!) of my favourites they would be: Skip to the good bit by Rizzle kicks, What i might do by Ben Pearce, Can we dance by the Vamps, Juliet by Lawson, You're nobody 'till somebody loves you by James Arthur, Counting stars by One Republic, R U crazy by Conor Maynard, La da dee by Cody Simpson, Here's to never growing up by Avril Lavigne and Everything has changed by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.(that was a lot!)

So those were some of the things i have loved and used a lot last month. I hope you liked it !! What have you been loving this october ?

Things to do in Autumn/Winter

Hello!

I though I would just do a post on a couple of things that you could do in autumn/winter. It's kind-of like a 'things to do when you're bored' but specifically for winter.

1. Decorate your room/house with autumnal things. Louise or Sprinkle of Glitter as her blog is called, did a lovely post on some ideas to decorated her home for autumn. I loved what she had found and this is kind-of what i meant by decorating the house. Of course, when it comes to Christmas the decorations will become more... Christmasy!

2. Have a movie marathon. full stop.

3. Write a blog. Winter is the perfect time to do things on your computer (like writing a blog) because usually the weather isn't very nice or it's extremely cold!

4. Learn something new. Whether it be an online course, a musical instrument or a new sport (preferably done inside!) winter is a good time to learn new things because there is less going on!

5. Set yourself a challenge for something like to reach the splits by Christmas day or get a six pack etc. but make sure if u do go for the splits, do stretches and pulse raising first!

6. Read a new book. I know reading for some people can be a bit of a chore but once you get into a good book you will be so happy u started reading it!

7. Go shopping. If you love shopping and you want to stock up on winter clothing (providing you have enough money) why don't you fill up your wardrobe with wintery stuff!

8. Go camping and make a bonfire. A Campfire with roasted marshmallows; a winter must have.

9. Take on a project. Set yourself a big winter project like to completely re-decorate your room etc. at least the you are doing something useful and hopefully worthwhile!

10. Take some photos. If you have a 'snazzy' camera or even if you don't, go and take some pictures of the lovely autumnal colours and/or of yourself in these surroundings!

11. Go to the Zoo. I know this sounds crazy for something to do in winter because its cold outside so the animals will be preserving energy and trying to keep warm. I have heard that the animals at Longleat are actually more active in winter! (not sure if true) Longleat does also have lovely things on in the winter so i think it is a must-go !!

12. Write a blog post on other things to do in winter because really mine are not the most interesting of all and comment if you do do a post!

Hope this gives you a few ideas!!

Halloween Costume Ideas

Hello!

I thought I would just give you a few (i say few) ideas for halloween costumes. First I will do some for slightly older children, which can also be younger children's costumes as well. Then at the end i will do a few younger costumes for if you decide to dress up your younger sibling!!

VAMPIRE - Grab a cloak/cape, some black clothes and some red contacts. Do a vampire-y like face paint and some fake-blooded fangs!

ZOMBIE - Paint the whole of your face and neck white with red all down from your mouth to your neck. White contacts add a great effect!

FRANKENSTEIN - Paint your face and neck again but with green and draw scars from stitching all over it, and one around the neck. If you can, make your shoulders very broad and square!

GHOST - There are two ways of doing this:

Sheet ghost - Get an old sheet, preferable white and drape it over you, i suggest cutting eye holes! This also means if its cold and rainy you can dress up appropriately underneath and not ruin your costume!

Ghost of a person - Wear normal clothes but maybe rip then or put dirt on them if they are old. Then use extremely pale foundation to get a washed out look and then some big under-eye bags and pale lips to make the character look lifeless!

PERSON STABBED - Get an old t-shirt and trousers and cut knife like slits in them and paint red around the edges. Then also paint red where you can see through the slits. Maybe do some 'dead' make-up too!

MUMMY - Maybe not toilet paper if you want your costume to still be in place by the end of it! I suggest old material! The rest is quite self explanatory!

POTTER HEAD? - If you have a Hogwarts robe of some sort and some appropriate accessories why don't you go as a witch/wizard from Harry Potter!

RANDOM RED AND BLACK COSTUME - Many girls like to do this, get a red or black tutu and some ripped/holed tights and a red or black top. Then spend ages on your hair and make-up to make it look as halloween-y as possible! (sorry the picture isn't really like what i said but i hope you get the idea!)

Now for some of the costumes slightly younger people may want to wear. I am not saying that it is weird for older people to wear these, I just think that maybe these are slightly more childish and less scary costumes!

PUMPKIN - aww too cute! Get your sibling a cute pumpkin costume and they are good to go!

WITCH - This is also a good one for older people but i think i put it in this section because when i think of them i think witch dress up costume and sparkly cobweb tights!

DEVIL - I think this is also a good one for older people but again i have seen too many red sparkly dresses with orange fire like frills and a massive plastic fork thing that comes with it!

CAT - Draw on some cute whiskers and a nose, attach a fluffy tail to a brown/black catsuit all in one and (again) your good to go!

PIRATE - This is very much a boys one but, i think the easiest is to find a pirate costume although you could do homemade style and rip some stripy clothing ;)

SKELETON - Wear some black clothes and get someone to paint your face with bones/skull!

Those are all i can think of! I hope that helped, and i am sorry i didn't put many pictures in but I didn't want to make it too long and i (tbh) didn't really want some scary pictures 'haunting' my blog post! (not that a baby pumpkin is at all scary!)

Hope you enjoy halloween !!!!

Youtube

Okay, so i'm not a youtube geek, but i do enjoy watching it. I am not one of the people who know every single you-tuber in the world, and I have probably missed out millions of videos that are amazing, but these are just videos i found funny, cute, interesting, and worth watching. If there are any that you think are worth watching, comment them!! Or do a post of your own!!
(they are in no specific order)

1. Loca the pug that couldn't run, this is so so cute !!

2. Zoella and sprinkle of glitter. There are so many amazing youtubers but the two I probably watch the most are these. They also both have blogs!!

3. Life is for living:parkour and free running. This video is just amazing! The people doing this must be very talented and brave! They deserve more attention!!(I love things like dance, gymnastics and sport, so i apologise in advance if some of my video suggestions are sport  related!)

4. Bart Baker parodies. There are lots of different people who do parodies but for me these ones stood out. Some can be a bit rude though! http://www.youtube.com/user/BartBaKer

5. MattyBraps ! I know he is a very young boy but he has amazing talent: he can rap, sing and look cute !!

6. Erifilly111 : Erifilly is an 11 (i think) yr old girl and is the most amazing young gymnast ever !!(sorry, because this only really appeals to gymnasts but still!) She is beautiful to watch and is amazing !!

7. Rhett and Link: i love these guys videos they are so good !! especially the T-shirt war !!

Those were just a couple of things i enjoy watching. As i have said there are lots more so i couldn't include all of them !! hope you will enjoy watching them xx
